What Country Has The Healthiest Diet?
Officially, the Spanish Mediterranean diet is the healthiest in the world – if you want to live longer and healthier.
For years, research and studies have drawn the same conclusions that a MEDITERRANEAN diet is one of the most healthy on earth – and Spain is a Mediterranean country where healthy eating is a top priority.
Although there is a health decline in Spain’s cuisine in recent years, Spaniards are statistically still the European race which eats best. Fewer people die from conditions caused by a poor diet than anywhere else on the continent in Spain.
It’s no myth – Spain’s diet is the best. It’s a scientific fact.
Extensive research carried out by the Martin-Luther Universität in Halle-Wittenberg and Friedrich Schiller Universität in Jena, both in Germany in the 51 European countries recognized by the World Health Organisation (WHO) concluded that an average of 44,617 people in Spain die every year from conditions directly linked to a bad diet or avoidable health problems – typically, fewer than one per 1,000, based upon an almost constant population of between 46 and 47 million over the years in question.
The exact figure comes out at 0.43 per 1,000, very slightly lower than in Israel, which is almost neck-and-neck with Spain for the fewest diet-related deaths.
The fact that Spain showed the lowest incidence out of all 51 countries further confirms the long suspicions of nutritionists that Spanish cuisine is one of the rarest phenomena for heart health and longevity.
